During his early years at the Bar in Chambers in London, Edward undertook all aspects of criminal as well as civil work, gaining extensive advocacy experience in both the criminal and civil courts.

He joined Ropewalk Chambers in 2008 and his practice is now primarily civil based, with a particular emphasis on personal injury, clinical negligence, counter fraud, disease and criminal regulatory litigation.

His experience in conducting criminal jury trials has given him a particular advantage at the civil Bar and he is known for his courtroom advocacy.

Away from the Bar, he is a keen sportsman and regularly plays tennis and goes skiing and sailing when he can.

Personal Injury

Edward has a busy and successful nationwide practice which includes all aspects of personal injury law.

He represents Claimants and Defendants in roughly equal measure at Fast Track and Multi Track level.

His practice ranges from dealing with minor injuries through to catastrophic injury claims.

As well as acting for Claimants, he is also instructed by some of the major UK insurance companies and most of his trial advocacy is EL and PL based.

Edward’s experience also encompasses the full spectrum of disease claims.

Edward is well known for his careful preparation, personable approach and his tenacious courtroom advocacy.

Clinical Negligence

Edward has conducted numerous clinical negligence cases and his practice in this field is rapidly expanding.

He has substantial experience in dealing with cases involving misdiagnosis and general surgery.

Counter Fraud

Edward has substantial experience in dealing with fraudulent claims and his background in conducting criminal jury trials has greatly assisted him in challenging these types of claims all the way through to trial.

He has had significant exposure to cases in this sensitive field and he now has a particular expertise in defending claims in which dishonesty, malingering or exaggeration is suspected.

Criminal Regulatory

Edward has significant experience in defending corporate clients, employers and individuals in prosecutions in the Magistrates’ and Crown Court.

In light of his background in criminal law, he feels equally at home practising in both the criminal and civil courts.
