Chester read Law at the University of Exeter before completing the Bar Course at the University of Law, graduating with an Outstanding.

During his Bar Course, he represented Gray’s Inn at the international rounds of the 29th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the University of Law at the national rounds of the 2022 Phillip C. Jessup Competition. He also won the prize for best cross-examination in his cohort. Gray’s Inn subsequently awarded him a Michael Mustill Scholarship to study international arbitration, as applied to both public and private international law.

Before pupillage, Chester appeared as a County Court Advocate across a range of hearings, including interim applications, case management conferences and small claims final hearings. He also served as a duty adviser under the Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service, through which he developed a keen interest in all matters relating to property.

Outside of work, he enjoys being in nature, reading, and cooking for friends.
