Public Sector & Not for Profit

We assist a range of clients in matters of relevance to the public sector, individuals, businesses working with the public sector, local authorities, central government and care homes.

Apart from specialist advocacy, our regular work for local authorities and other public bodies includes advising, drafting and regulatory work across the whole field of their responsibilities under statute and common law.

We have a depth of knowledge, with many barristers being well known in other areas of work, which enables a breadth of experience to be brought to bear in a multi-disciplinary approach, allowing us to meet all levels of requirement.

We advise and represent across the range of issues that may be faced, including adult social services, anti-social behaviour, care home funding and closures, children’s services, commercial disputes, community care, compulsory purchase, Court of Protection, data protection and freedom of information, dilapidations, disability discrimination, education and special educational needs, employment, environmental, Highways Act claims, historic abuse actions, housing and homelessness, human rights, judicial review, licensing, markets and fairs, mental health, personal injury and disease, planning, procurement, property-related issues, prosecutions, protection of vulnerable adults, public health, public liability claims, safeguarding and statutory nuisance.

We are a panel Chambers for several local authority consortia and individual bodies. We understand the funding restraints that publicly funded work entails and adopt a flexible approach to fees in this regard. We often assist ALARM members with training and knowledge sharing initiatives.
