Over the years, we have appeared in some of the UK’s largest group actions and contribution claims arising from occupational diseases. We are able to quickly put together teams of leading and junior counsel of the highest calibre for large and complex matters.
Our work continues to take us to every part of the country where traditional industry has existed. Members of the Disease Team appear in all forums, from the taking of evidence on commission to cases at all jurisdictional levels, including the Supreme Court. The depth of experience in the team allows us to meet all levels of requirement.
Our barristers are highly skilled in dealing with all asbestos related conditions, from pleural plaques, thickening and effusion to asbestosis and mesothelioma. We are well-versed in the specific litigation processes involved in mesothelioma cases.
Our experience encompasses the full spectrum of respiratory disease including, but not limited to, asthma (colophony, enzymes, flour, grain, isocyanates, latex), pneumoconiosis, silicosis, COPD and various lung diseases including farmer’s lung, welder’s lung, bird fancier’s lung and those from exposure to beryllium, cadmium and others.
We have particular expertise in airborne disorders including aspergillosis and aerotoxic syndrome.
We are highly skilled in acting in cases involving cancers of all kind, including bladder, bowel, skin, laryngeal and naso-pharyngeal cancers.
Our barristers have been at the cutting edge of work related upper limb disorders, including vibration white finger, hand-arm vibration syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive injuries.
We have a long history of acting in all aspects of noise-induced hearing loss claims, from the 1970’s and 80’s to having four counsel appear in the Supreme Court in Baker v Quantum Clothing Group and others. We regularly undertake NIHL, tinnitus and acoustic shock cases the length and breadth of England and Wales.
We are very experienced in all types of muscular-skeletal disorders, including osteo-arthritis and beat knee. We also deal with poisoning (carbon monoxide, chemical, mercury, radiation), organophosphate exposure, dermatitis and solvent and latex allergies. We have also successfully acted in numerous workplace stress claims.
