Police Law
We have a large team of barristers available to assist in all matters concerning the police. We frequently advise and represent clients across a range of operational matters, including unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, excessive force, safeguarding (including stalking, RoSHO etc), malicious prosecution, injunctions, POCA and RIPA, amongst others. There is often a significant overlap with the work of our other teams.
Employment and Misconduct/Performance
We have a team who regularly deal with employment-related issues who would assist with disciplinary hearings, whether as an adviser or to present the case.
Inquests and Inquiries
We frequently advise and represent Interested Parties at inquests. Our barristers are experienced in all issues that may involve the police in this arena, including deaths in custody, homicide, suicide, road traffic accidents, Health and Safety, safeguarding etc. We have a team of over twenty barristers who regularly do this work, including two who sit as Assistance Deputy Coroners. Individual barristers have appeared in the recent COVID and Thirlwall Inquiries.
Human Rights
Our barristers are well versed in the HRA and are available to assist with any enquiries.
Injury
We have acted in injury-related matters involving the police for many years. Our collective experience covers any injury that may be faced, including employers’ and public liability, vicarious liability, road traffic accidents, PPE, disease (NIHL, RSI etc), stress at work, bullying, training injuries and accidents, assault, firearms, etc.
Animals and Equine
We have a team of barristers who have an unrivalled knowledge of the Animals Act and related issues and have appeared in the most recent authorities in this area.
Data Protection
Our Data Protection teams advises across the full range of data protection issues, including breaches, SARs, exemptions, ‘right to be forgotten’, human rights, etc.
Public Sector
Our Public Sector Team advises on ASBO’s, nuisance, travelers, Health and Safety and many other areas.
